Barbara Jean Heartsill Manges Prenier

PRENIER, Barbara Jean Heartsill Manges, 94, born Dec. 15, 1926, in Greenwood, AR, died July 22, 2021, in Flat Rock, NC. She was a member of the Fletcher Church. Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother. After retiring from secretarial work, she especially enjoyed caring for babies of working parents. Barbara ensured that her daughters receive Seventh-day Adventist education and set an example of healthful living. After the death of Paul, her husband, she moved to Fletcher Park Inn, Hendersonville, NC, at the age of 74. She found family and blossomed there. She loved being with her church family. While living at Fletcher Park Inn she met and married Gordon Prenier. Gordon was involved in mission work and wanted to share some of the Maranatha projects he was involved in, so the couple traveled extensively. A highlight was visiting a church Gorgon pastored in the Cayman Islands. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Harris B. and Grace Bassett Heartsill; her husband of 49 years, Paul Manges; and her second husband, Gordon Prenier. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Edwards (Bruce) of Washington, PA, Paula Means (Wayne Flannigan) of Bakerstown, PA, and Linda Williams of Blude Ridge, GA; three stepdaughters, Gloria Pfeiffer (Dallas) of OR, Betty Smith of CA, and Carol Peden (Roger) of Tryon, NC; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
