FLOYD, CAROLYN VIRGINIA SMITH, 96, born October 1, 1928, in Coward, SC, died January 8, 2025, in Hendersonville, NC. She was the eldest child of Hoyt and Leola Smith and was raised in a Christian home alongside her three siblings. In 1947, Carolyn married Paul Floyd, and they lived in Olanta, SC, for their entire marriage until his death in 2005. Their 58-year union was blessed with three children. Carolyn dedicated herself to raising her children and later worked as a school secretary at Olanta High School. After retiring, she and Paul started a successful home-based plant business, The Flower Patch, which attracted customers from miles around. In 2011, Carolyn moved to Fletcher Park Inn in Hendersonville, NC, where she made many friends and became an active member of the Fletcher Adventist Church, never missing a Sabbath service. She also became involved in the community and cherished the fellowship. Carolyn was known for her deep Christian faith, attending every religious meeting available to her. She wrote monthly letters to each grandchild, encouraging them in their Christian walk. In her later years, despite declining vision, she continued to read her Bible with a magnifying glass and prayed diligently for her family and fellow residents. She walked the halls of Fletcher Park Inn, praying for those in need. She is survived by her children: Paula White (Reese), Patsy McCutcheon (Jim), and Phil Floyd (Cheryl); her siblings; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
