ANDERSON, CHARLENE E., 95, born on Sept. 19, 1928, in Melrose, M.A., died on Nov. 27, 2023, in Hendersonville, N.C. She was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Garber Higgins. Anderson’s remarkable journey included her childhood on a Seventh-day Adventist mission station in South Africa, her work at the General Conference Headquarters in MD, her role as a secretary at AdventHealth Florida Hospital in Orlando, FL, and her retirement years at Fletcher Park Inn in Hendersonville, N.C. An avid birdwatcher, she appreciated the calm of nature and the beauty of birds. Her passion extended to knitting, where she crafted baby and adult hats for charitable causes, offering warmth and comfort to many. A faithful member of the Fletcher Church, Anderson’s strong faith and compassionate nature will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves behind her husband, Gordon Anderson; sister, Doreen Furman; niece, Sheri Butler and her husband, Ed; stepson, Lonnie Anderson and his wife, Laura; and stepdaughter, Susan Bohnstedt and her husband, Tim.
