KLAVER, John Sherman, 71 — born on September 27, 1952, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.
John's educational journey led him from Shenandoah Valley Academy in Virginia, where he completed high school, to Southern Adventist University, where he graduated with a BS in Business Administration and a minor in secondary education. For twenty-five years, John dedicated himself to serving as a nursing home administrator and was a valued member of both the Tennessee and North Carolina healthcare associations.
Throughout his life, John remained a steadfast member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, actively contributing as a Sabbath school teacher, deacon, and elder.
John had a deep appreciation for music, which he shared by playing the guitar and singing at various church services, funerals, nursing homes, and the local homeless shelter. During the last several years of his life he became quite a storyteller, sharing stories and memories from his childhood and career.
John is preceded in death by his brother, Nick Klaver. He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-two years, Louise Klaver; his four children, Wendy, Julie, John, and Destiny; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
