Butler, Richard Allen II, 58, born November 10, 1966, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, died June 19, 2025, in Fayetteville, NC. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1985 as a motor transport operator and deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. In 1992, he completed the Special Forces Assessment and Selection and graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course as a Special Forces communications sergeant. He served in Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), and was assigned to SFODAs 396 and 394, ODB 390, and ODC 330. He retired from active duty in 2009 after 24 years of service and continued working as a Department of Defense civilian in the United States Army Special Operations Command. He was a member of the Fayetteville Church for over 20 years and was active in the Pathfinders youth group. Survivors include his children, Autumn Hicks (Stephen), Ricky Butler (Courtney), and Kayleigh Butler (Nicholas); grandchildren, Serena, Kieran, Luka, Theodore, and Beatrice; siblings, Wendy Butler, Danielle Church (Joe), Yvette Butler, Daryl Butler (Debbie), and Michael Butler; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karen Elaine Gielinski and Richard Allen Butler
